Help us do more

We’ll get right to the point: we’re asking you to help support Maruthi Vidya Kendra. We’re a nonprofit that relies on support from people like you.

Who we are

The School, Maruthi Vidya Kendra, was established in 1985 under the management of Maruthi Education Trust (Regd. under Section 12(A) of IT Act). The trust is a non-profit, non-government philanthropic organisation, dedicated to primary and secondary education in the district of Tumakuru, Karnataka, India. It is also committed to providing quality education to less privileged for free and children with disability and is considered by the public as one of the best schools in the city.

About the Founder

Late Shri. K. Venkataramiah was a teacher and philosopher his entire life. He received the “Best Teacher” award from the President of India. He also received many state and central government awards for his innovations in teaching.

His main aim was to start a school of excellence and to impart quality education to his students at a reasonable cost. He focused on activity-based learning and inquiry based learning with an emphasis on alphabets, languages, and numbers leading to logical thinking and problem-solving movements.

Today, this is part of the National Education Policy proposed by the central government.

About the School

Maruthi Vidya Kendra is affiliated to the Karnataka State Board of Secondary Education and has produced many innovations in teaching. The school has received appreciation from the public from inception. Many of the teachers have received National Awards for Innovative Practices and Experiments in Education for Schools and Teacher Education Institutions under the guidance of the founder.

The school provides quality education to 500 students from various economic backgrounds. It was one of the earliest schools to support the Right to Education Act (RTE) by accommodating a large number of students availing the benefits of free and compulsory education guaranteed under Article 21a of the Indian Constitution.

At the time of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, a need for COVID appropriate classrooms rendered the current structure obsolete. When the second wave hit the entire country severely, the trustees decided to raze the old building to make way for a structure with a design that was pandemic appropriate for in-school learning.

About the Crowd Funding

The prevailing Pandemic situation has impacted the economic wellbeing of the parents. They are unable to pay school fees in full. Under the circumstances the Trust is in need of funds to pay for the construction of the new building.

The architectural view of the new building is given below:

The estimated cost of construction is Rs.2.5 crores. The trust has mobilized a large portion of the funds through the following sources:

  1. Tustees — Rs. 20 Lakhs
  2. Bank Loan — Rs. 90 Lakhs
  3. Family and Friends – Rs.40 Lakhs.

The Trust is appealing to like-minded donors and well-wishers to generously contribute to help raise Rs. 1 Crore through this crowd funding initiative. The trust intends to fully utilize these funds to build a new structure that is safe for learning and will continue offering quality education to all students. This will ease the financial burden on the affected parents and the less privileged.
